Sonnetarium - Cucumber Salad, Blueberry Yogurt, Samurai Princess

A little while ago I was searching around for a good black and white glitter topcoat, and I came across Sonnetarium's take on the theme. I picked that up along with a couple minis of other polishes, and I have to say, I wish I'd gotten full-sized bottles now.

First up is Cucumber Salad, a mint-green polish with tiny white and green glitters.
This is one coat of it over Ulta Mint Condition. Cucumber Salad is a bit sheer, but over a similarly-coloured basecoat it's perfect. It's fresh and springlike, and I absolutely love the mix of glitters in it.

Next up is Blueberry Yogurt, which is purple with assorted sizes of darker indigo glitters.
This is one coat over Essence Oh My Glitter. In person, it looks exactly like its namesake and I love that. Like Cucumber Salad, it's a bit sheer, but works nicely over a similar basecoat.

Last of all is Samurai Princess, the black and white glitter topcoat.
This is one coat over China Glaze Hang-Ten Toes. I absolutely love this topcoat! It's a well-known good combination ever since Lynnderella's Connect The Dots came out. Lynnderella is notorious for both overpricing and being completely nuts, so it's best to not try to get that. I decided on Samurai Princess after seeing this comparison post on Chalkboard Nails and I'm so glad I did, because it's exactly what I wanted. The coverage is excellent and the mix of glitters is amazing.

If you want to pick up any of these polishes or any others from Sonnetarium's gorgeous array, you can pick them up at their store.

Black Crackle and Assorted Other Polishes

I have a bit of a random assortment to show you folks today! Plenty of silly names, too.

First off, I finally got myself to pick up a crackle polish. I've always wanted to pick up a black one since it's a really cool effect. I picked up Color Show Carbon Frost from K-Mart and I was glad I did! Here it is over Wet 'n' Wild 9.0.2.1.Orange:
It was tricky to apply and rather gloopy, but on most of my nails it crackled nicely and to me it looks like a spooky forest at nighttime! I love that and I'm absolutely going to use it in a Halloween mani next month. As a sidenote, 9.0.2.1.Orange is such a great name. It's a somewhat sheer orange and yellow glitter.

The next polish I have to show you is one of the most ridiculously named polishes in my whole collection, SOPI Here's Lilac-in At You, Kid. Seriously, who came up with that? It's a lilac-grey duochrome and has a really nice, soft appearance.

I'm not sure why these pictures came out so blurry! I still have to work on my photo setup, I suppose. I love how similar it looks on the nail to how it looks in the bottle, I was worried the shift wouldn't carry over. It went on quite smoothly too, this was about 3 coats.

Next, I have over-the-top blue sparkliness.
This is one coat of Sinful Colors Hottie over Dollish Polish A Bad Case Of Blue Balls. Hottie is a translucent blue jelly packed with blue glitters and microglitters, and it completely overpowered ABCOBB, which is a sapphire blue with light blue shimmers. Surprisingly, Sinful Colors Blue By You is almost identical to ABCOBB, but has more of a teal shimmer than a blue shimmer. That difference was next to invisible when I tried to do a comparison shot, as you can see:
Blue By You is just slightly less sheer, requiring only two coats for the three that ABCOBB needs. I love blue tones like this though, so I don't mind having both! Also the Dollish Polish has such a great name.

And that's it for today! I hope everyone's having a lovely week.

First Post!

Hello! This is my first time doing any sort of blog but I thought it'd be a fun way to archive the polishes I have so I'm not just spamming up the Something Awful Forums thread about nail polish. I'm not totally sure what sort of gimmick I'll have or even if there'll be one! For now I'll just start posting.

One of my favorite retail polish brands is Sinful Colors, partly because of how cheap it is and also because of the variety and quality of polish. I picked up SC Opening Night from Rite Aid the other day, it's a gorgeous dark teal shimmer. Here it is with an accent nail of SC Nail Junkie:

Opening Night had very good coverage and only took about 2 coats for full opacity. On the downside, it's already getting noticeable tipwear and I've had it on for about 24 hours.

On another note, a couple weeks back I participated in a grab-bag polish sale and got some nice polishes! Here's NARS Tokaïdo Express, a dark burgundy with a golden shimmer:

I was a little surprised at how watery Tokaïdo Express was, I ended up having to apply 3-4 coats to get full coverage and it was difficult to manage. It didn't help that the brush was awkward to use due to the shape of the cap. I love the colour though, it's very classy and I'd love to pair it with Zoya Maria-Luisa once I finally get that polish.

That's it for today! I hope whoever reads this isn't rolling their eyes at my totes amateur photography and staging. I swear it'll look less terrible later on!
